  1. You need to offer them a better deal than what they have now - whether that be lower price, better service, etc. Since you are just starting off there may be some skepticism on the part of prospective customers that you are experienced enough and have you stuff together in order to deliver on your promises. You will need to address these concerns, and make the deal sweet enough to be worth the risk.
  2. You got to start from what you have. How many of these companies can you easily approach? it is better to have an insider who will probably give you the Netty gritty of what you will need to offer to beat your potential competitors. Good luck!
  3. In order to effectively sell your services online, you must have a Web site that... Introduces you as the expert, and builds your credibility with your visitor. Effectively targets various appropriate keyword phrases to ensure that the people who need your service find your Web site. "GIVES before TAKING" -- provides the visitor with some free valuable information (i.e., solid content) on your site, and/or in your free opt-in e-zine. Actually, when it comes to selling a service, a top-notch e-zine is invaluable for building a positive relationship with clients (whether they are potential or new or repeat clients). Our free downloadable eCourse "Service Sellers Master" course gives you the information and tools to get started on the right foot. 4. Have you prepared a business plan? This is your starting point. In compiling it you'll sort out what your products are, who your target market is, how you're going to reach them, the finance required to run the business and your projected profits. Every new business faces the same challenge of persuading clients to leave their existing supplier and every established business also wants to win business from their competitors. Don't feel intimidated by the fact that you're new. All you have to do is establish your credibility. This includes reliability of service and finding ways of delivering the same products in a better way - one that suits the client more than their existing supplier. For example, one supplier may only make weekly deliveries to a certain area, the competing business might offer twice weekly or daily deliveries. One of the best ways of establishing your credibility is to invite your prospective customers to a seminar. This must NOT be a sales pitch. Educate them on a related topic and do a quick commercial at the beginning and end for your services. Say you were a health and safety consultancy, you might put on a seminar on changes to fire regulations and the impact on companies. At the event you demonstrate your knowledge, which says to your prospects that you're probably as well informed on everything else you do. There's lots of other ways you can do similar things via newsletters, press releases etc. Good luck!
