- I work with many businesses to update such materials, and one of the first things I notice is that the copywriting is "us" focused not "you" focused. To engage the reader, your copy should be written not just to list the features of the product, but also to tell the reader what benefits your product can provide. For example, for a bank checking account you don't want to just say "No service fee." You would want to say "Save money with no service fee." Spend some time planning out your brochure and finding just the right photos and graphics. Another thing I often see is too many graphics that just don't fit. Graphics shouldn't be there to fill space. They should be there to support the copy. You didn't say if you would be doing the writing and designing or if someone else would be. I have a small business consulting company, but I also have a website full of free advice for small business owners. I've provided a link to the brochure page below. Once there, you might also want to read some of the other pages, such as the one on copywriting. There are also links to some sources for cheap, royalty-free stock photos and copywriting and graphic design freelancers.
